Belal Muhammad vs Leon Edwards ended prematurely, as the match was deemed a no contest due to accidental eye-poke from Leon Edwards in the second round of the fight. Leon Edwards was making his return to the octagon after 602 days, while Belal Muhammad had taken the fight on short notice, after Leon Edwards’s original opponent Khamzat Chimaev withdrew.
There was a lot of controversy about the way in which Leon Edwards reacted to his eye-poke – with a tinge of arrogance. This didn’t sit well with Belal Muhammad, as he took to Twitter to lambast Leon Edwards for his attitude.
‘The fight was just getting goin and if your satisfied to end it on that note your soft‘
Belal Muhammad tweeted after the match, “My heart is shattered my first main event ended like that but Gods the best of planners im sorry to the fans and the @ufc you deserved a full fight.. Alhamdillah the vision is coming back and no permanent damage to the eye I’ll be back and want to run it back.”
Later this day, he blasted Leon Edwards for his arrogance. He tweeted, “Never saw someone act so tough after poking someone in the eye the fight was just getting goin and if your satisfied to end it on that note your soft you ain’t getting a title fight off that I took the fight on 3 week notice and came to fight run it back @ufc“
Will there be a rematch soon? What do you think of Leon Edwards’s attitude post-fight?
